If
only we heard these words more instead of hurtful and hateful comments. I have
a sweet friend who will randomly text me, “ You are enough, Maci Hope! I love
you!” Her words of encouragement fill my heart with such joy every time I read a
text message like this. We live in a world where we feel like we have to live
up to some big standard to feel good about ourselves. These are lies. Lies
straight from Satan. Sometimes I imagine how different life would be if we
lived in a world where every girl or guy felt important, loved, and enough.
Wouldn’t that be amazing? I have always struggled with not feeling like I was
good enough. I have tried and tried to find my worth in things of this world
instead Jesus. I have worked my booty off at school to make straight A’s. I
have bought so many clothes that my closet doors will not close to feel “in
style.” I am not saying those things are bad everyone likes nice clothes or to
make good grades but I have had to learn that these things do not define who I
am. Just because I may not have the prettiest hair, nicest car, or biggest
house doesn’t change the fact that Jesus thought I was enough when He gave his
life for mine. Jesus doesn’t care if I have the most perfect, put together
outfit on Sunday morning. He only cares if my heart is constantly pursing Him
and choosing Him everyday. Jesus doesn’t care if I drive a Range Rover or if I
don’t even own a car. He cares and wants to be the center of my heart and life.
I believe this is why my heart is drawn to children. I love working and being
around children because I feel like they are the closest thing we have to Jesus
on this side of heaven. I love walking into a classroom, hearing a little girl
or boy say, “Wow, Ms. Swindle you look like a princess.” It will instantly
brighten my day. These little kids they haven’t been affected by the world yet.
They see everything with the purest eyes and hearts. They believe we are all
enough. Oh, how I wish the world could be this way. When writing this blog, I
remembered the important scripture from 1 Peter 2:9. “But you are not like
that, for you are a chosen people. You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
God’s chosen possession. This verse is a reminder that You are enough. Our
worth does not come from things of this world, our worth comes from Jesus.
Nothing and no one can change that. So, next time you start to feel unworthy or
unwanted, remember You Are Enough
and God has a special plan that He created you specifically to fulfill.
My sweet "You are Enough" friend!
P.S. Make sure you read my post about why I am starting this blog! :)
