Have you ever been at a place in
your life when you wish you could go back in time? I was talking to a sweet
friend who was home for Christmas break. We were eating at Taco Bell one
night, reminiscing about a fun night we had there about a year ago. So much has
changed in both of our lives. We went from being a close-knit group of friends
that were inseparable on the weekends to friends who barely even talk. It was
kind of a depressing moment. I have
always wondered why things have to change. Why can’t we live everyday knowing
that the same people who were there the day before will be there tomorrow? Then
it hit me. Without change there is not growth. Change is always going to
happen. We can’t stop it from coming. Change can make us or break us. Sometimes
it is really hard to let go of things in our past, but we can never move
forward if we are stuck trying to hit the repeat button. I have had to learn
this in my own life. I am the type of person who always wants to look back and
remember all the fun times I have had and that’s okay. However, I cannot let
the past effect my future. If I am constantly sad or upset about how much
change has happened in my life then I will never be able to open my eyes to all
the amazing things God is going to put in front of me. I think about the verses from Ecclesiastes
3:1-8. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the
heavens: a time
to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to
dance, a time
to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time
to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a
time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. God has a specific timing
for every aspect of our lives. The times that all of my friends and I spent
every weekend together, God knew we needed each other. He needed us to be there
to build each other up and take care of one another. He also knew that He had separate plans for
each one of us in our lives to fulfill. That’s why the change in all our lives
had to occur. He has a time and plan for everything we experience. Don’t let
Satan get you stuck in the past. There are so many more great times ahead of
you. So stop hitting the repeat button in your
life and start asking God to reveal something about your present or future. Remember,
times change but God doesn’t!
P.S. I will always cherish the friendships
I share with each one of these incredible people. Y’all were my #squadgoals.
Each one of you has impacted my life in a different way. I will forever cherish
all the weekends we spent together. I pray that God uses each one of you for
His glory. I hope you all know that no matter where God may take you on your incredible
life journey that I will always be there cheering you on!
I love you all! :)
I love you all! :)
